Comment

One of the great films of Roger Corman, who has always been considered one of the clearest and best examples of the contribution to Corman sci-fi, (which incidentally served as inspiration for the classic cult of John Carpenter's "They Live!", 1988). A product of B very nice and entertaining which was shot in a couple of months (it was one of nine films that Corman made that year) and with a budget of $ 100,000. "Not of this Earth" was born with the aim of incorporating a generous dose of humor to an unimpeachable argument of science fiction and suspense, which also seek to Corman in "It Conquered the World" (1956) or the masterpiece "Little Shop of Horrors "(1960).
Paul Johnson is a native of the planet Davanne sent to Earth with a mission to periodically send telepathic blood samples of humans. Davanne is being ravaged by an epidemic and an enormous amount of human blood can save their wretched inhabitants. This argument, no crazier than the other fundamental works Corman, served as the basis for an extremely clever and witty script by Chuck Griffith and Mark Hanna, who would open that line of films of suspense and humor.
should also be noted, in "Not of this Earth," the competition by Paul Birch as the ultra-intelligent alien, looking grim and dirty look (by the way, Ray Milland is reminiscent of the later "The Man with the X-ray eyes ", 1963), in line with the best actors cormanianos, and beauty and savvy Beverly Garland (as the nurse Nadine Johnson). Oh, and Dick Miller as a vacuum salesman talkative.
A highlight of the film poster is a marvel and one of the most memorable in the imagery of the genre, and has been copied and plagiarized for all types of publications, advertising, etc ... In 1988 Jim Wynorski
do a remake "porn star" Traci Lords as Nadine, a nurse, and Arthur Roberts and Johnson. Nothing to do with the original, in my humble opinion, is much better.

Pain In Legs Autoimmune

A shared secret between an angel and I

So fragile.
A trickle of light from the shadows of her womb, clings hidden
a minimum of life, nor
without even knowing, that takes the rocks and caresses.
! Yes, if you know! is the sheer force of love
all. And is cradled
naive and grow.
There are those who yearn,
so are the things of God.
wherever he is, life begins,
all this to be or not to be
to get at the time of the angels.
I'm rocking in my dreams and dream
them quiet and serene hope.
arms My love, love are bristling
cigar in the most humble and quiet act of waiting.
be in the ninth moon her face pink
be left to the light ...
told me a wonderful body
who walks through the sky
outfit with wings and new aromas
and occasionally escapes to leave smelling
life expectancy. And
flowers filled with dew in the sublime moment. Valentina Antonietta

Comment

"Visit to a Small Planet" is the first film that touches the subject of alien visitors our planet, in the key of comedy. Remember that this film came at the end of a decade of science-fiction had become a reflection of the fears of the human being out by invasions, plagues or nuclear accidents (clear reflection of the Cold War, the atomic age and the fear of the unknown including outer space): "The Thing from Another World "(1951)," The War of the Worlds "(1953)," Invaders from Mars "(1953)," Invasion of the Body Snatchers "(1956), etc ... are clear examples. It was necessary to dramatize the genre, and to do no better than Jerry Lewis simpa.
almost certainly "Visit to a Small Planet" was the inspiration for the hit sitcom that premiered shortly after the theme principal were the adventures of a wild Institute in our planet: "My Favorite Martian / My Favorite Martian" (1963-6). This series will give way to others such as "Mork and Mindy" (1978-82), "ALF" (1986-90) and "Rock from the Sun / 3rd Rock from the Sun" (1996-2001) and films like "My Stepmother is an Alien "(1988) and" What Planet Are You From? "(2000).
The film was created as a satirical play written by the famous essayist and writer Gore Vidal. Of course, when he moved to the cinema became a popular vehicle for Jerry Lewis, who is at the height of his career with movies as "The Delicate Delinquent" (1957), "The Sad Sack" (1958), "The Geisha Boy" (1958), "The Bellboy" (1960), "Cinderfella" (1960), "The Ladies Man" (1961 ) and "The Nutty Professor" (1963). Gore Vidal had written his work as a satire on the Cold War and witch hunts of Senator Joseph McCarthy, including a second section Kreton (the alien), having lost the Civil War, decided to start his own war and causes chaos with weapons of mass destruction. In the movie version, the satire is gone out the window and the film became a light comedy suited to the personality of Jerry Lewis. In fact, it is impossible to deduce what Gore Vidal was trying to satirize in his play (I must say that Gore Vidal was very unsatisfied final outcome of the film).
Although it is generally a critically maligned film, "Visit to a Small Planet" has to be seen for what it is, a service of histrionic nonsense Lewis offers us that in almost all his films, dolls, fuss , jokes, ... These antics that make us all grace, truth. With inspired moments and very funny scenes. Norman Taurog, a light comedy director best known for a series of Elvis Presley films and others of the genre, like "Dr Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine" (1965), carries the film with a dizzying pace, without stopping, so crazy. So much so that sometimes seems to just be a succession of "gags" without any frame. The film also offers an amusing look at the Beat Generation (the best of the film).
I said, a comedy made for the greater glory of the sympathetic Lewis. To view and uninhibited fun. And I must confess, I love the voice of the doubles in the movies of that era. Loud, "Plan 9."

When Do Bulma And Vegeta Fall In Love

From the zenith to the descent of the moon ...

It was last night I drank from your lips seductive verses
your thirsty mouth.
It was the sublime moment when burnt
in your mouth in your thighs
and walked new paths.
your sap and drank sweetened
as sweet as heaven.
nectar of the angels As you drank
ethereal mine. It was yesterday that
between waves of desire flesh and sweat did
,
and fluid realities of love. Shining
we became possessive pronoun. Emerging
we did and we conjugate the verb. Embraced
adjectives we became ...
and we owned the sea, with its unfathomable waves
the sky with its distance
pulsating universe, with its endless swing.
In the shadows of night were
light, pleasant pop
meat from the zenith, to the descent of the moon
in its path. Valentina Antonietta

Comment

The path of studies "American Zoetrope" began in 1960 in San Francisco. Francis Ford Coppola, a promising young director, persuaded Warner Bros to help finance and distribute a group of films made by new filmmakers who had gathered around him. Coppola had successfully completed the production of his film "The Valley of the Rainbow" ("Finian's Rainbow '. Francis Ford Coppola, 1968), and his proposal sounded good at a time when the film needed and was desperately looking for substantial changes in their proposals. But everything was a fiasco, lost causes. And many of the American Zoetrope film or did, and those that survived did not have much success. Warner Bros., having decided to abandon the experiment of San Francisco, does not endorse these productions with great enthusiasm. The biggest bump was the George Lucas film "THX-1138", a sci-fi parable which takes place in the 25th century and has a very accurate visual language and a brilliant scenery

The strength of the film is its history, but in its unsettling and weirdly effective visual and sound style. The story maintains the standards of science fiction: Five centuries into the future, humanity lives in underground cities which are programmed by computer and monitored by robots. The individual is replaced by all and so people are forced to take drugs to suppress their passions, but THX 1138 (Robert Duvall) and his mate LUH 3417 (Maggie McOmie) reduce their rations of drugs and discover that they have sexual appetites. Worse, they're in love.

What follows is a battle against the centralized computer system, the fight against police robots, and a "persecution to freedom? None of this is very original, for reviewing the guón we can see that the issue of human alignment, the total dystopia is a hackneyed theme has been treated in greater depth by Orwell, Ray Bradbury and Philip K. Dick, among countless other writers.

The film itself is an excellent exercise in carrying out that part of the previous experience as a student film Lucas with his film "THX 1138 EB."

should add that the sound helps to create that effect of distance, depersonalization. People keep an impersonal, as if the drug made them indifferent to everything around them. Only the TV commercials have vitality, strength, life in order to convey trust.

A note also the important cast headed by the great actor Robert Duvall and secondary (but no less famous) Donald Pleasence, whose characters are very well understood, and are the best of this title together with the extraordinary and unconventional music by Lalo Schifrin, and of course the atmosphere of the city that manages to create an oppressive environment simply that white light that reaches nearly blind and can even cause anxiety and claustrophobia.

In conclusion, "THX 1138" is not a typical science fiction film made for a conventional public, hence its resounding failure at the box office and its conversion into cult film in later years. For me personally, I like it.

Comment

In the 50's produced the birth of the space age, which opened the door to an incipient science-fiction film that showed what could lie ahead. Some longed for the general public that was eager to see films full of new technology, interstellar travel and alien invasions. Obviously Hollywood
forward to this new fashion with a film that had a large budget and a delightful picture in Technicolor. We speak, of course, "Destination Moon" (1950). But, taking the expectation for the film of Irving Pichel, Kurt Neumann rolled in as solo18 days, with a minimum budget and tinted black and white, "Rocketship XM" (1950), which premiered earlier in the film and got a great success. The film was distributed in the United Exclusive Pictures Kingdom that put the Hammer in place to roll leveraging the popularity of the film. As usual in those days, it took a script for a radio drama, and rolled a science fiction movie with almost no budget.
Although in reality, "Spaceways" is more a thriller than a science fiction movie. Terence Fisher successfully combines science fiction and psychological melodrama, with the second option which dominates the film. And thanks to his talent the result is more than acceptable. Since Fisher manages to capture more than is right conflicts that are generated throughout the film, and to add severity and drama, certainly giving brilliant moments, as when a scientist acting maliciously and is seen through a distorted mirror of the laboratory by a colleague. Or the flash of unease and discomfort in the face of an engineer when in a moment of success of your project space, is forced to mention the rocket experiments of Nazi Germany. The script is full of a serious dialogue given to details like these, none of which seem out of place.
addition, "Spaceways" has a good group of players who help the final outcome of the film. A highlight Howard Duff, who seems to be enjoying the job at one of the more cerebral roles and introspective in his career;
In final accounts, a modest series B product, despite being sold as a science-fiction film is a psychological thriller that was promptly and effectively directed by Terence Fisher, who manages to create a atmosphere of tension and intrigue quite effective. In short, it can be seen without problems.

Comment

Before starting this nice comment from underwater zombie movie like me to pose the question: why in almost all the old movies where a group of people hire a boat to do something (as in this case find a treasure) all men wear sailor's cap even if, for example, shoe? I never understood and, frankly, always seemed a ridiculous than scary. I await your witty answers and see if I am convinced that is natural, practical, whatever.
But let the mess, "Zombies Of Mora Tau" is a modest production of series B that it is indeed a pretty sight and is one. With a history full of attractive elements: a sunken treasure, a curse, love and jealousy, Voodoo, zombies ... Given its short duration (not reached at 70 minutes), devouring with relish and, despite some failures, of all visual and performing (especially zombies) ... well, the plot also weakens a bit, raisins a little more than pleasant.
Directed by Edward L. Cahn ("It! The Terror from Beyond Space," "Voodoo Woman," "Creature with the Atom Brain" or "Invasion of the Saucer Men," among others), "Zombies of Mora Tau" is really an adventure film is tinged with great heir of the great classics of the years 30-40 (performance, photography, ... Indeed looks like a film of that time). For the visual effects are absent (a small stroke of makeup and some algae and we have a zombie) and, of course, the zombies do not cause terror, surprise, no nothing. Moreover, in Mora Tau zombies cause laughter. They are clumsy as could be (rather than those of Romero) and when they are together more like a sailor from San Sebastian choir than anything else. You're left with the desire to pull up to sing the "Asturias, patria querida". But despite everything, the good Cahn is an experienced craftsman who manages to give his films their personal stamp that will add quality, despite the insane that they can reach their arguments. Although course, the result is usually irregular.
In this case, the story is about treasure hunters who travel to Africa (the exteriors were shot in a popular location on the outskirts of Los Angeles Baldwin called Ranch, located near Santa Anita racetrack, while the interiors were filmed on the set of Columbia) to find the remains of Susan B, a ship inside which is a fortune in diamonds protected by a dozen zombies fucking do anything to prevent looting. In life were the crew who stole the sacred diamond unknown tribe, and they pay well forever his sacrilege.
As in "Creature with the Atom Brain" and that is welcome, Cahn departs from the practice of hiding the monster from view until the film is well advanced. Very beginning of history, we find ourselves faced (pun intended) with one of those poor sailors cursed. I think it is something important because what I hate most in this world are the typical horror / fantasy, especially those focused on adolescents, where you jump over an hour waiting for the monster appears and, in most cases when you see it on the screen after a while Nuenen supporting a stupid script full of superficial dialogue, you realize you've wasted an hour of your life. In "Zombies Of Mora Tau" the First comes the very beginning zombie film and recognize the precariousness of effects and the absence of terror, so you can retire without any problems of conscience. But the story is compelling enough to put up with you glued to your chair while enjoying an African adventure with a curse included.
believe that "Zombies of Mora Tau" is a film more important than people think, a stage, a turning point in the zombie film that begins with "White Zombie" (1932) and has its peak in "Night of the Living Dead" (1968). The most obvious is the first zombie movie where you see the true nature of human. The characters are so distrustful of each other, and only pursue their own selfish interests, so are unable to respond effectively to the threat posed by the undead. But what may be even more important, The Zombies of Mora Tau appears to have been the first film of its kind in which there are zombies, arising, presumably by a curse, but there is a sorcerer or a mad evil professor (who will be destroyed) responsible for directing and responsible for its origin. They are there because yes, they are cursed. No matter who or how we are cursed. Oh, and of course, are the first zombie film underwater. That's nothing!
The first half of the movie is really very good, with a strong desire to put you squarely in the heart of a more typical pattern, as I said, the films of the classic cinema of the years 30-40. There is a scene when they go to bury the first sailor killed by the zombies, absolutely fantastic (the visit to the cemetery). Even the underwater scenes are generally effective, although obviously not filmed underwater. But as the film progresses, it becomes increasingly clear that neither Cahn, nor the writer Raymond T. Marcus (pseudonym of Bernard Gordon, who used the name of a friend, and who was blacklisted during the McCarthy era) has a clear idea of \u200b\u200bwhat to do with all this web fascinating. There are a number of small but annoying holes in the plot if they had been covered I think the result would have been more complete, as the game that could have provided the zombies in his lair, equipped with a secret door and stone sarcophagi. Or why not think of anyone, because the zombies are afraid of fire, seemingly obvious possibility that they might be susceptible to burning. The romance that develops between Jan (Autumn Russell) and Jeff (Gregg Palmer) fails to convince anyone. The final scene unfolds with a certain awkwardness, there is no actual climax. Within minutes it's all over and very little grace. But even so, "Zombies of Mora Tau "is a more than worthy little film of the genre that fails to disappoint.
I forgot. You can see that the entire cast of the film is composed of standard classic B movies of the time. The hero, Gregg Palmer ("From Hell It Came, 1957 or" The Most Dangerous Man Alive, 1961), Grandma Peters (Marjorie Eaton: "Monstrosity", 1964), the driver (Gene Roth: "She Demons" 1958 and "Earth vs.. the Spider", 1958), the scatterbrained Mona (Allison Hayes: "Attack of the 50-Foot Woman," 1958 and "The Hypnotic Eye", 1960), historian Eggert (Morris Ankrum, "Flight to Mars " 1951, "Kronos", 1957, "Earth vs.. the Flying Saucers, "1957;" Invaders from the Sea ", 1953," Beginning of the End ", 1957 ... Among others.) All pro professionals who perform good performances.
In final account, a product more than acceptable. Entertaining and worth seeing. Recommendation "Plan 9".

"Dr. Quatermass Experiment" was the first of legendary Quatermass films in the series. A character who was born to a television series of the BBC six episodes of thirty minutes duration each (what we now call a mini-series) titled "The Quatermass Experiment" (1953). In view of the success, Hammer Films bought the rights to the story and reverted to first title of the trilogy. "The Quatermass Experiment" was conceived by writer Nigel Kneale. Kneale wrote many scripts for television, many of which were later adapted to film, but Quatermass was his most famous and well, Kneale did return the character to television in two occasions: "Quatermass II" (1955) and " Quatermass and the Pit "(1958-9). Both were also filmed by Hammer as, respectively, "Quatermass 2/The Enemy from Space "(1957) and" Quatermass and the Pit / Five Million Years to Heart "(1967). Two decades later, again Kneale Quatermass saga complete with "Quatermass / The Quatermass Conclusion" (1979). Nigel Kneale
proved to be a science fiction writer prolific and very popular during the next two decades. It was well known for developing a science-fiction different, full of bold ideas, originality and intrigue. As in "The Creature / The Abominable Showman" (1955) where the Yeti is a creature full of surprising humanity, or "Quatermass and the Pit", which mixes a lot of ideas the plot, combining the past and the origins of man, the devil, extrasensory powers and visitors from Mars, "The Quatermass Conclusion" in which some ancient megaliths are revealed as exotic portals used to abduct aliens land, "The Road" (1963 ) about how disturbing it can be a journey in time, "The Stone Tape" (1972), which provides scientific explanations of ghosts and specters, and "Beasts" (1976), an anthology of stories set in places monsters to everyday human being, as a farm, a supermarket, a bar, etc ...
"The Quatermass Xperiment" was a cornerstone gender in a number of crucial areas. For a start was one of the first productions made by Hammer Films, and his first international success. Equally important is that, "The Quatermass Xperiment" (with the exception of "Devil Girl from Mars" in 1954) was the first British film ventures into the theme of alien invasion so fashionable in the U.S. and with films from the likes of "The Thing from Another World" (1951), "It Came from Outer Space" (1953) or "The War of the Worlds" (1953), among many others.
also be noted that the idea of \u200b\u200ban astronaut who is infected and that, little by little, he mutated into something strange has been copied endlessly. Titles such as "First Man Into Space" (1959), "The Hideous Sun Demon" (1959), "The Crawling Hand" (1963) and some episodes of the series "Doctor Who" (1963-1989), especially "The Seeds of Doom "(1976), and several years later" The Incredible Melting Man "(1977) and a small movie called" Alien "(1979). Hammer also made an pseudosecuela with "X the Unknown" (1956), shameless copy of "The Quatermass Xperiment", which features a certain Dr. Adam Royston, because not authorized Kneale the use of the name of Quatermass. Many British films of the genre later also used the trick to import from the United States lead actor (here the grim Brian Donlevy) in order to open up the overseas market.
is to highlight the good work Val Guest and Richard Landau, in shaping the adaptation of the original idea (designed for the limitations of television in the year 50) in a new product that obviously is faithfully the plot but with the addition of having a larger budget and, therefore, more technical, which allows things like the outdoor location and more elaborate visual effects. Although the difference most important of the two versions is the character of Professor Quatermass, who in the various series and productions, is a scientist dominated by science and reason, but with all the forms, in the style of Peter Cushing, playing Van Helsing in Hammer's Dracula or Doctor Who. Brian Donlevy as Quatermass, plays a despotic bulldog, bad character, and education insensitive, arrogant and overbearing, which is able to do whatever it takes to achieve their objectives, without giving a damn about others (see the scene with the wife of astronaut ... makes you want to hit a slap!).
"The Quatermass Xperimen" lacks complexity of ideas found in Nigel Kneale's later works, but is developed with a creepy atmosphere. Val Guest made a film full of mystery, with disturbing scenes (Richard Wordsworth why hide the hand into the pocket of the jacket?). The performance is superb with a semi-documentary tone, journalistic report some exciting overtones gives plausibility to the narration, this, together with its dark and gloomy picture, printed on the film a somber hue, almost terrifying. The wonderful script gradually unfolds his scheme, since its inception, a space version of the "mystery of the locked room, through the mystery surrounding the surviving astronaut, reaching its mysterious mutation to the magnificent climax in Westminster Abbey, all with an incredible fabric, composed a masterpiece of suspense, a film that creates continuous expectations of the viewer, holding in suspense throughout the projection . Clothed, of course, by excellent performances, especially that of Richard Wordsworth who offers his anti-hero of the astronaut victim of a port space tortuous curse, a tragic design, reflecting on the suffering of his countenance, and that equated with Frankenstein's creature. Val Guest does an excellent job when comparing their suffering to silence mutant reactions people around him. There is an encounter with a girl that evokes the scene of the girl with Boris Karloff in "Frankenstein" (1931).
Shot from 18 October to December 1954, the film was released on August 26, 1955 X-rated Far from being deterred by this possibility has been exploited, and indeed the original title was changed to The Quatermass Xperiment to play with a giant "X" on the posters.

The BBC did a remake of "The Quatermass Experiment" for television in 2005, starring Jason Flemyng as Quatermass.

Well my friends, here I come again with another mortificaros products guru infamous Z series, the simpa Al Adamson. After the visual collage "Horror Of The Blood Monsters", dedicated to the intergalactic vampires and their origins, we happened to good mad professor and his loyal zombie "Blood of Ghastly Horror." But make history ...
If you've read the previous review, remember that "Horror Of The Blood Monsters" came to be released with thirteen different titles, and one would not the movies. For in this case took more of the same. The friend made (well, or something similar) a horrible, boring story of a gangster who stole jewelry, which he titled "Psycho a Go-Go" (1965). Given that this monstrosity was not successful, Adamson shot new scenes, cut and paste, renaming it as "Fiend with the Electronic Brain." Another box office failure. Therefore, decided to hire John Carradine, Tommy Kirk and a few others, with which new scenes shot. I took all, scissors, and again as a montage of strange and bizarre (as in "Horror Of The Blood Monsters"). This time it was titled as "The Man with the Synthetic Brain." But he went without a penny in the box office. So he changed the title to the film and released as "Blood of ghastly horror." Later as "The Man with the Atomic Brain" and "The Love Maniac." And no, a resounding failure.
And the little film that blew up is a real pestiƱo infumable that, rather than fear, is laughable. Because so much plot, direction, makeup, performance, installation (such as patches are noted) ... They are somewhat delusional. Come on, poor no: lousy. We talked about ZZ series. For lovers of the Z series, and generally insane. People suffering from anxiety or depression abstain.
