Comment
"Kronos" (1957) is considered a classic of B sci-fi of the 50's. A little gem that despite some failures of implementation, effects and plot is well developed and holds the viewer in suspense from beginning to its end, that is when the story weakens, falling in the most prototypical sci- fi of the era.
To begin the film brings together a handful of usual science fiction such as: Kurt Neumann, Irving Block, Louis DeWitt, Jack Rabin, Paul Sawtell and Bert Shefter, Jeff Morrow and Morris Ankrum, labor of many large the genre: "She Devil" (1957), "The Fly" (1958), "K-1 Rocket" (1950), "The Atomic Submarine" (1960), "War of the Satellites" (1958), "The Invisible Boy" (1957), "Unknown World" (1951), "World Without End "(1956)," The Phantom Planet "(1961)," Behemoth the Sea Monster "(1959), The Man from Planet X (1951)," Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea "(1961)," This Island Earth "(1955)," The Giant Claw "(1955), Zombies of Mora Tau (1957) ... And though the result is not perfect, they create a story where they appear almost all the topics of gender (alien invasion, meteor about to crash into the earth, possessions, alien mind control on humans, advanced technology, cataclysmic destruction, pseudoscience and technobabble, a super computer, atomic bombs, ...) without the viewer will burst neurons. In contrast, entertains ... A lot. Because deep
"Kronos", like many other science fiction films of the decade of the 50 is about a threat from outer space and must be fought by scientists and the military (in close relationship. See what it says scientist turn is believed to feet and letter for the army. Something common in films of the era). However, there is something that makes it stand out from the others. And it is the nature of the threat that makes this film unique: the invader is a devourer of unstoppable energy that comes from outer space (need energy because they have exhausted the resources of their planet) as futuristic Ikea wardrobe. Its mission is to suck all the power and atomic energy on the planet, until it was dry. Indeed
Hulk is a bit of junk. Ugly as himself. But for me personally in this lies its charm. It's different to what we are accustomed. Irving Block say about his creation: "I wanted to Kronos was anthropomorphic, and it seems a robot, but also to look like a piece of machinery. I spent much time thinking about it ... At one point it looked like a construction made by Picasso, but it was gradually simplified until finally everything became just a black box. " It is true that special effects are pretty bad (combining models, many archival footage and cartoons) and to do advance a giant energy store with a huge cylindrical legs can cause a laugh but, I repeat, what matters is the global product (do not we stand in minutiae). It is evident that "Kronos" (that's how the contraption called because the main character reminds the giant monster ...?) is a kind of "Godzilla" technology that destroys everything in its path, but without the grace and the salt of his colleague Japan.
The problem is when, as in many of the products of the time, you have to destroy the invader and must be removed from the sleeve a great theory that does away. And therein lies the failure of "Kronos": the last ten minutes. It appears as if by magic Atterberg theory of changes of polarity and other odds and ends (when I checked Atterberg's theory deals with fluid and soil mechanics). A blackboard, chalk, and we have discovered the Achilles heel the bug. But hey, if in as many poor quality films they have forgiven the minutia, here we shall not be less.
The actions more than worthy: a Jeff Morrow, like the protagonist of "This Island Earth" knows everything, handles helicopter ... and roll in the sands of a beach in Mexico with his girlfriend / assistant Vera Hunter ( Barbara Lawrence) emulating the famous beach scene in "From Here To Eternity" (1953), relatively speaking, there are many, of course. The nice doctor Culver (George O'Hanlon), responsible for managing the super computer "Susie" (Synchro Unifying Sinometric Integrating Equitensor) and the tormented Dr. Eliot abductee, played by John Emery (how that man sweat!).
In final accounts, a small gem of Series B which suffers from having a budget, given the grandeur of the subject. Ideal for a remake of the means available today.

After the release of the infumable version of "King Kong" by John Guillermin (1976), showed plenty of plagiarism or imitation (with much less budget) around the planet Earth. Obviously the Italians could not be left out and shot the film in question, which masks the copy of a very subtle way. Since the film does not involve a gorilla, if not of the "abominable snowman" alias "The Yeti", but gigantic, colossal and, moreover, prehistoric.
On this premise we are dealing with a story that mixes the plot of the original version of "King Kong" (1933) and "The Great Gorilla" (1949), creating a soap opera plots where they live, traumas, and action history of love between the Beast and the protagonist (which, incidentally, in a scene that provokes laughter delusional dreams of dancing with friend yeti, but normal size.).
The special effects are laughable and the monster is a man with a beard, stuffed into a suit and hair with a wig of the most heavy metal. Tacky, tacky.
In final accounts, we are faced with another one of those films are ideal for buddies and beer on a Saturday afternoon. A pestiño so huge that I have no words ... Just see it and Descojonado it without any qualms. It yeti, the abominable snow awesome movie.
PS: The scene is brutal nipple .... I leave you wondering.

Established in 1964 by the British Ferry and Sylvia Anderson (who already reap success on the small screen starring puppets as "Fireball XL5" and "Stingray"), the legendary TV series "Thunderbirds" desgranaría over 32 spectacular episodes of the wonderful adventures, stationed in the XXI century, the philanthropic organization "International Rescue", made by the heroic family fully Tracy: Jeff's father and his five sons, John, Gordon, Virgil, Scott and Alan, all of a futuristic aircraft pilots, the Thunderbirds. Following
of its acclaimed tour in the 625 lines, these famous puppets would know still a short extension of their exploits thanks to a couple of feature films, which it first is also the most accurate and consistent with the myth of television. An ambitious scientific expedition to Mars is sabotaged
(do not really know why), so that the benefactors "Thunderbirds" will take action on the issue and protect the next expedition, while on earth, charming and sophisticated agent Lady Penelope (voiced in the original version were owned by the Sylvia Anderson) tries to break up with his unmistakable car and assisted by her faithful butler, a mysterious terrorist network.
While maintaining the excellent bill (superb scenery and special effects) of the series and, above all, his candor, "Sense of Wonder" both the first film like this, "Thunderbird 6" (1968), also directed by the usual series David Lane, suffer from some arthritis narrative completely unthinkable in those brief and cathode caps episodes, characterized by a lot of unnecessary verbiage (countdowns, orders, time measurements, etc ...) that filled almost the entire script. In final account, a pointless and poorly constructed plot within a visual environment wonderful. But despite everything, delightful viewing.

Comment
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea represented a critical milestone in the career, both as a cathode film, director-producer Irwin Allen, to be a considerable box office success and thus open the doors of the television medium in which they were erected in the great salutary fantasy of the decade. Still, this film does not stop be a spectacle of grandiose claims but ultimately rather tedious due largely to excessive dialogue and frustratingly general tone of discourse, a real drag on the fast pace that cries out for the argument. Fortunately, the excellent special effects conceived by Abbott (a memorable highlight the giant octopus scene) give the film moments of showmanship plethoric and worthy of passing on the history of the genre. As an added incentive deserves recognition roles appearing on a couple of great myths of film as Peter Lorre and Joan Fontaine and also another couple of myths, though small, as Frankie Avalon and Barbara Eden.
In 1964, Allen would move the adventures of the crew of the 625 super submarine lines, with a series that would include 110 episodes (until 1968) for one hour (the first of which write and direct their own
Allen). The television division made pregnant by Richard Basehart as Admiral Nelson, accompanied by David Hedison, Robert Dowdell.
After this series, Allen continued his raids conducted with three other equally mythical series "Lost in Space" (1965-68), "The Time Tunnel" (1966-67) and "Land of Giants" (1968 - 70).

synopsis
The nuclear submarine under the command of Pete Matthews comes across a huge object North Pacific, which traps the ship and barely able to get rid of him. Port back to reveal a huge fragment of organic tissue trapped between the submarine's propeller. With the assistance of Professor Joyce and Dr. Carter, the scientists conclude that this is a huge octopus, which was to remain immersed in one of the depths of the ocean and, with the recent nuclear tests, was forced to seek shallower waters in search of food. Is that the monster has become a radioactive creature and its natural food source - fish - the distance perceive his presence. Hungry and in flight, the creature is in direct path to the city of San Francisco. Now it's up to Matthews, Joyce and Carter are a viable way to stop it.

Comment
"Came from Beneath the Sea" is important, first, because it meant the union of special effects guru, Ray Harryhausen with producer Charles H. Schnner. A partnership that will last twenty-six films that changed the genre forever. Harryhausen is best known for his work in 1963, "Jason and the Argonauts", but eight years before he gave us his most memorable image (the skeletons sword fighting), created a giant octopus ravaged San Francisco, after traveling across the Pacific Ocean. This may not be the best film of Harryhausen, but he has his magic, his personal touch. Just see octopus attacking the city. Who knows what would have been the film without the help of Harryhausen. Because let's face it, the best of the movie is the monster that despite the years and the evolution of special effects, has not lost any of their ferocity and realism (just look as it glides across the Golden Gate or when attacking the port.) Because there is an interaction between real people, the sets and puppets "In stop-motion", not so much as it should squeak when compared with the films actuales.Esto shows that when there is talent, even an archaic form in the design and creature movements can compete with modern technology in many cases .
The first twenty-seven minutes of the film are completely different from the rest of the film, and he used elements of documentary, with the voice-over explaining what is happening is that it seems almost like a newsreel. That gives the action a more timely, informing the viewer of what is happening. But as soon as it appears on our giant cephalopod scene, things change and the film is transformed into something totally than spectacular.
The script in fact, than the normal average for the series B of 50, because not only based on the monster but it puts a tremendous degree of attention to the characters and very interesting. Professor Joyce (Faith Domergue) is presented with enough personality to fill the screen. Accustomed to the players look fit only for palm and shouting over and over again, we find the character of a teacher intelligent, attractive and character (come on, that even gives orders to the military). In turn, the Commander Pete Matthews (Kenneth Tobey) repeats the same mold as his official talkative "The Thing from Another World" (actually, it seems the actors play their roles with the same profile as a detective in the noir of the forties, friendly, mischievous, heroic and ladies above all things). And probably the heroes of the series B, Kenneth Tobey is that he has had the best roles, over John Agar and Hugh Marlowe.
In final accounts, easy production of series B which far exceeds the average since there is an excellent combination of a good script and some amazing special effects. Classic "Plan 9"

The decade of the 30 is considered the golden age of horror. During this period, the embodiments of classic creatures like Frankenstein's monster, Dracula, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Mummy and the Werewolf were transferred to celluloid. In 40, these famous monsters were devalued through endless sequels or a meeting of several in the same film. It was on 60 when the Hammer does rise from the ashes to the classics with new strength and a different and novel approach, at the same time full of quality. And Universal, which was responsible for the originals, revives a comedy, see the TV series "The Munsters" or the charming animated film that concerns us, "Mad Monster Party?".
This gem of animation was done by the creators of children's animated Rankin-Bass factory responsible several cartoons and TV specials like "Frosty the showman", "The Jackson Five and The Osmonds", "Willie McBean and His Magic Machine" (1965), and adaptation in key TV animation "The Hobbit "(1977), among other things.
"Mad Monster Party?" Has a starring Boris Karloff (well, his voice), playing Baron Von Frankenstein and J. Forrest Ackerman ("Mr. Science"), editor of "Famous Monsters of Filmland" (1958-82) and one of the key figures in the history of science fiction, in the script. Thus, film is carried out the greatest respect and affection for the originals. Of note, in addition to the aforementioned monsters, the Rankin-Bass added a laboratory assistant with the voice of Peter Lorre and a surprise appearance by King Kong). And the beginning, when all monsters are appearing is fantastic and very, very funny.
Indeed, following your vision you will realize that it is a film made for children. There are lots of silly jokes and bad jokes. But the atmosphere we breathe, the music of seed and wonderful puppets, make "Mad Monster Party?" A gem of animation. Recommended.
To highlight the band playing at the party, of which I put a photo: "Little Tibia and the fibias." By the way, below you can Unload the soundtrack.

British children
alien movie that mixes science fiction and fantasy with an intriguing parallel police. The truth is a small nonsense that tells a story that you will be familiar: an alien comes to Earth and encounters with some children, who collect and care for him. The alien is able to do some wonders (those made in good faith), but that would entail certain problems. Thus, there will come a time when Meba (the alien who comes from Venus) is in serious danger. But children get to save it. Al final, tearful farewell ... And The End. Does it sound? ... Yes, sir, is almost the same story as "ET The Extra-Terrestrial" (1982), by Steven Spielberg. Perhaps the writer of such a successful film at the time was "Supersonic Saucer" and it seemed a great idea. That'll never know. But reaches out to a bike basket, but does not fly this time. Anecdotal and little else. Although Meba looks very nice.
