Oatmeal Makes My Stomach Hurt

Theatre Of Death (1966 ) (VOSE)

synopsis

In the Paris of the mid-60's Le Théâtre De La Mort continues the tradition of Grand Guignol nineteenth century with great success. His depictions of horror and gruesome continue to attract the public, wildly applauding the brilliant and unpredictable assemblies Phillippe Darvas.

This is a scary movie, so, as always in these cases, appeared to have singularly strange series of crimes. All the victims appear without a drop of blood in his veins as if they had been attacked by a vampire. A police officer investigating the case and at the same time, frequents the company of one of the actresses of that theater can not help but make connections between the murders and the site where the girl works ...

Here we are again, mes amis. Coming back we used to do. Uséase, old, grateful and wonderful brit-terror of the golden age. Those magnificent 60's in which British film wielded imperial hegemony (Rule Britannia) on gender terrifying. Before the Americans counter-attacked and robbed of the imperium in the early 70's.

And, specifically, we place ourselves in 1966, this movie was made, Theatre Of Death. A time when Hammer was at the zenith of His glory, supported by its eternal sisters, the Amicus and Tigon. When the Swingin 'London marked the musical trends, social and aesthetic and London, these and other reasons, was again the center of the world (as it had been during the long reign of Queen Victoria, eighty years earlier.)

As far as pop culture is concerned, 1966 is the year of transition par excellence. The turning point between the old and the old ways aesthetic, musical, spiritual. The highlight of sixties pop, the bangs and the naive freshness, wonderful, teen pop and primal rock'n'roll ... but also, somewhat end. And therefore, the start of something different. Roughly speaking, the entry into adulthood of music. The invention of psychedelia, the adoption of new forms, new sounds, new aesthetics and images.

well ... Well somehow something similar also happens in horror movies, mes amis. Although it is forcing the parallels, it seems to me that 1966 is a turning point. It is the year that the old and wonderful Italian Gothic farewell with some of his greatest works (Operazione Paura, Un Angelo Per Satana). Thereafter, the Giallo take over and the ancient castles, dark corridors, cemeteries and studded with fog nineteenth environments will give way to more or less psychopathic murderers with a refined aesthetic sensibility and a pronounced taste for belligerence. In USA is preparing a counterattack, as Polanski is filming Rosemary's Baby (to be released next year) and has just finished his unique tribute to Brit-terror: The Dance of the Vampires. Corman and AIP have been shelved Poe cycle-Price and pass on to other things, other fears. Starts and popularization of Lovecraft claim to an almost pop icon. In Britain itself, producing as AMICUS and Tigon (which always characterized as a follower of his brother, the Hammer) almost completely obviated Gothic elements to tell horror stories set in the most obvious modernity.

not take my words at face value ... It is clear that the game still gave Gothic genre. Hammer itself often more or less continued until his last moment, mid 70's. The appearance of the Tyburn in 1973 was an attempt to revitalize that, unfortunately, was not successful, but that must be evaluated. Spain began the golden age of Fantaterror (from 1967-68) in which there was no shortage at all, dips in the most outrageous Gothicism (somehow it was Spain's last-jejeje-spiritual reserve of the gothic). Germany itself lit one of the masterpieces of the genre (cinematically speaking) just a year later: the torture of the 13 Maidens. Even in Italy there were examples of late and more or less isolated.

But to me (it's an opinion) it seems clear that from 1965-67 the Gothic gave way to new languages \u200b\u200bin terror. And not before had not existed ... But in the mid 60's when the scales tip definitely in favor of modern, terrors not supernatural, the psycho-killers, diabolism explicit and the new monsters (strictly) human . With permission from George A. Romero and his zombified hordes, of course ...

Well ... It opens in 1966 when Theatre Of Death. A film archetypal Brit-terror but at the same time, with a very original touch. And, needless to say, perfectly valid to justify everything I have stated before.

Starring Christopher Lee himself (well ... what the stars say ... is really secondary luxury makes, as usual), just so worth it. But it also has its virtues and peculiarities. Set in a modern and contemporary Paris (1966), at first glance seems to owe nothing Gotham and bagpipes. In fact, it would be like a daughter of the late current brit-terror that I have appointed some time and is more akin to the Penny Dreadfulls than with Victorian Ghost Stories ". You know what I mean ... Do not you remember the argument in movies like Black Museum Of Horrors or Circus Of Horrors). But beware, because here the picture is less clear.

First, the references to Penny Dreadfulls are so explicit, so obvious that most are disarming. All that the Theatre of Death and tradition grandguinolesca French final. A clear nod. And so ... No allusions or bagpipes. The thing is clear.

But at the same time, there is some truculence. In that moves away from the (wonderful) burradicas the late 50's and early 60's. The movie is elegantona and cruel, but never sensationalist. It is played with the theme of vampirism and, indeed, run a foot in the old Gothic and the other in the modern Yeye. There is even a sort of implicit homage to Italian films (La Maschera Del Demon comohaydiós. Things like that) in their own plays. All this film within a film, but in another way.

everything was codified in 1966. There was no longer any place for the naive nor naive. If you wanted to play had to accept the rules. Or rather, play with them. Turn them over. And the film

knows. Sign in in the game and scores well. Beginning especially in photography, wonderful, dark, full of light and shadow. As a kind of reinterpretation (humble, unassuming, almost homespun) expressionism. And continuing with the ongoing winks and references to gender, through the scenes "drama" (which, as I say, just evoke the Italian Gothic play tribute to one's Hammer) and other effects (this time Philippe Darvas / Christopher Lee projected in black and white images in which out vampires and old photos of Lon Chaney).

The film, obviously, I think a delight. A lost and forgotten joyica deserves a most urgent claim. An example of Brit-terror of the mid-60's that exemplifies the time and serves as a bridge between the old and new forms. Small wonder unpretentious soup with deep giving any sosada of now and that's worth its weight in gold. Everything about her is lovely. The color, light, shadow, the narrative takes the presence of Sir Christopher Lee, the fringe of the girls, the narrow black tie and French police, the final dance of the dancer mulatto. And that use of a photograph dark, gloomy, which gives it a curiously modern. Polanski was released

Dance Of The Vampires and had made it clear that the good old British Gothic came to an end (polanskiana comedy worked, in some sense with respect to the classic genre of vampires in the same way that "bridging the gap" Don Quixote about the novels of chivalry almost four years before his death Certifying ... by a brilliant parody.) Carnaby Street was the center of the world, like Trafalgar Square had been seventy years earlier. The thin red line was retreating (unabated, without failure, without losing. Orders of the superiority) in Aden and in the deserts of Oman. The Beatles were drawn in black and white on the cover of Revolver. The Hollies were waiting for the bus in the rain. Syd Barret strange and hypnotic singing songs about gnomes, bicycles and interstellar travel from the scene of the UFO, wrapped in colored lights. Psychedelia knocked on the door.

But the brit-terror still there, enduring the storm. Playing the old game, making clear references. Proud, austere, intimate. True to himself, but more open to new trends which, a priori, it might seem. Always worship, elegant, responsive ... but also lucid, conscious. Aware, perhaps, the short time remaining before giving the hegemony and determined to do well until the last minute. Subtitles are

work of a friend named Arch Stanton, made from scratch as well (which is very expensive). And my faith is excellent, considerably better than I usually do myself. To see if the thing goes on and keep the society (Actually, this movie we've posted half the two. Uséase, that the merit, if any, is distributed, ahem).

I, really, every day I'm older and more foolish. So this type of collaboration will become more frequent every day (if the employees are left, ahem ...).

The ripping from a DVD I have no very clear whether British, American or Italian (because at least there are these three issues). In any case, the image quality is excellent. We went up the film on two servers, Megaupload and Mediafire. Also, I do note that the version posted to the latter (Mediafire) includes audio dubbed into English (Latin American dub is a pretty good. Done at the time). The MegaUpload not. It is only in English.

That's it. That VOAC enjoy the movie as much as we have done.

Lici Surrender For Bima Gold

The Witchmaker (1968) (Dual English / Spanish)

synopsis

secluded, marshy in Louisiana are producing a series of bizarre crimes. In less than two years, eight women (all young and pretty) have been killed in a manner that evokes some kind of ritual (the bodies are hung from a tree, face down, fully bled and a "cross ansata"-o ankh - drawn with his own blood on the belly).

The area has a certain tradition and the local witch believe that behind everything is the practice of black magic.

To clarify the mystery comes to the region a small team of psychics and psychic researchers. As stipulated in fees (this is a scary movie), settle down, of course, in an isolated cabin deep in the bayou. Well away from any possible help and very close to the evil lurking in the swamps ...

So here I am again, mes amis, after a long absence (for reasons beyond my intention .... That's right: nothing serious, Allah be praised).

I tried to take advantage (as far as possible) that forced retirement to keep "arrebuscando" rare and difficult to watch movies. With reasonable success. What happens is that all I've found are in the workshop because they either need some kind of assembly or require the creation of subtitles exnovo. And these things take time (and time is precisely what I have had so far).

Well ... But let the chicha, which is what matters.

In some recent posts and comments that came out intervened more than once, a kind of subgenre that I draw much attention, and I think lesser known (and known) than it deserves . I mean that current American films produced between the late 60's and early 70's, dealing with Satanism from a viewpoint that has nothing to do with films like Rosemary's Baby (1967) or The Exorcist ( 1973), films that would serve to "narrow" chronologically (in a very loosely) the genre to which I am referring to. But which, curiously, does not owe anything, or aesthetics or story or ideologically.

This subgenre to which I can not think of any name ("Hillbilly Satanism, perhaps? Ahem ...) is characterized by the diabolical approach the issue in a very peculiar, showing entire communities, organized, dedicated to the worship of devil, located in rural areas more or less isolated, well defined and cohesive. As a kind of crazed reflection (though not explicit) of the Midwestern Bible Belt or the Deep South redneck, conservative and ultracristiano.

Gradually, thanks to the gods (or to go Nah, you know who ... best not to think much, being the topic in question, ahem) these films have come to light in this and other forums. I speak of The Devil's Rain, Enter The Devil, The Warlock Moon, The Brotherhood Of Satan, Werewolves In Wheels, Blood Sabbath (this still in their original, although I can announce an immediate increase to doubling) or Race With The Devil.

well ... Well now it's one of the first, The Witchmaker.

is a curious film of 1968, halfway between the often bizarre sixties Something Weird Video editing and the genre of which I speak.

Produced by LQ Jones (a common side in the films of Sam Peckimpah which was some enthusiasm for gender satanic which is also behind The Brotherhood Of Satan) with a really tiny budget and a plot that oscillates between delusional and rigorous, not average, not end of sickle and coz belong to subgenus of Satanism is present Hillbilly although many of its keys.

In The Witchmaker not before us, in fact, one of those rural communities and closed to which I have alluded. Here Satan worshipers are more "professional" and limited. And they seem culled from a first-of Roger Corman film or series-Z who tried to imitate British models of the early decade. The fantasy element is much heavier (transformations, embodiments and other "ones" ... All very magical and unrealistic). One not very clear how they relate to the environment and, moreover, a sort of coven mounted halfway between a burlesque show (belly dancer included. I swear!) And a family picnic in which participants (by invocation) seem to be excluded on the casting extras in The Mask Of The Red Death and The Cry Of The Banshee (both da ... Do not they wanted on either).

But on the other hand, its location in the boggy bayous of Louisiana, in a remote area, isolated and oddly picturesque in the American imagination is closely related to the supernatural, the uncanny and the fantastic (voodoo, lycanthropy, African and European witchcraft, supernatural traditions of old French and English) and anything else related directly with that Satanism Hillbilly we are talking about.

The appearance of a team of researchers determined to investigate the strange deaths in recent years using parapsychological techniques not only accentuates this relationship. But I say: it's like having all the components, the writer and director had decided not to bet the whole satanic realism. As if at the last minute had stuck to the old convention of witches flying on brooms and some imagery gotizante (in the European sense) that it was already being abandoned.

But well ... But with that, the movie has its interesting and entertaining. In addition, amid a jumble of references, girls in bikini, cleavage and belly dancers generous, rigorous curiously plays with things like the rise of ankh (cross ansata of Egyptian origin) or the characterization of the witch greater (the loss and excessive John Lodge) and berserker (which refers to the Germanic paganism ... I know that the berserkers were warriors possessed by the deity, demon- or the spirit of a bear). As I said before, the movie is a bit bizarre midway between Something Weird Video and underground rarities from the late 60's. Not Simon, King Of The Witches, of course (or comes close ... at all) but it is not a crazy or a mere nuddie Exploitation.

is an honest and humble sub-B series, made with some imagination and that, although still not decided to take the side that Satanism Hillbily with all the consequences, and anticipates participating in several of its features.

One last curious. The movie was released in Spain, although it was published in the 80's VHS (so we can post a dual version). The title was given for the occasion was The Sorceress. The strange thing is that the USA itself and despite being limited distribution tape and whose current reissue is quite sui-generis (then talk about it) the film was known, in addition to its original title of The Witchmaker (something as "The Maker Of Witches") by another much longer: The Legend Of The Witch Hollow.

And, apparently, by a third party: The Naked Witch. In fact, one of the posters I've posted the image (and I find most elegant of all, really) takes the latter title. The thing I find curious. More than anything because there was already a movie with that name, shot a few years earlier (in 1961), directed by one Larry Buchanan, barely 60 minutes long (directly made for a double session, of course) and addresses the issue of witchcraft from a very interesting point of view as well. Although it has little to do with it.

I have a copy in my collection as part of a double-feature from Something Weird Video, but it is a VO without subs. Maybe one day I do some subtitles and rising.

now posting the copy is a DVD ripping an American who has assembled one from a English audio editing VHS. I have the original DVD Yankee, a curious thing ... This is an edition of Sinister Cinema, a house that is dedicated to editing and selling rare in VHS and DVD in a way that I would define as semiamateur. I get that what they do is spend VHS's to DVD with care, cleaning a poquico the image and increase efforts to get a decent result. At least far better than what the Alpha Video (which is judged on call). The issue that made this movie is "special" and has two discs. One in the form scope and one with the flap. Given the source, the image quality is not exactly optimal (like a VHSRip, although done with great care, of course) but very dignified. And in any case, all you have, mes amis. Of course, the ripped version is the scope, as you can see from the catch.

well ... and nothing else. You see this time I have been brief. That must be because they have lost the habit and because I have to be warming up, hehehehe. What I hope (I'm sure) is that my absence is over and that henceforth, it will reappear with a more or less regular frequency. Sorry, mes amis, but you are going to get rid of me so easily.

As always, the film is cut with File Splitter & Joiner. I have uploaded to Megaupload, but I believe this also lately puñeta server is doing with particular relish. I do not know if I have to switch to another as Mediafire and such ... We'll see ... Anyway, a friend and I reraised to Mediafire links included.

That's it. VOAC you enjoy.

Comment

Well here's one of the strangest movies I've uploaded ever ... Yes sir! The authentic and genuine Istanbul'da Drakula fresh from the mists of a distant Bosphorus and 1953 in black and white.

suppose many have heard of it. And a few even you have seen. I, the truth, I was searching a long time ... and one day, at last (a while ago) I found it. Interestingly, not see anything anywhere, I went to download at one time four or five versions from different sources (the "versions" so to speak. All the same TVRip proved to be a Turk called Sinema Turk channel. Exactly the same.)

The film, needless to say, is a Turkish adaptation of the story we all know inevitable. It appears in the credits do not refer to Stoker's novel but to another, entitled The Impaler Voivoda and signed by a certain Ali Riza Seyfi (I guess some kind of "reprocessing" or literary alla Turkish Exploitation ... and possibly even had more successful than the original novel itself in that country. Things like that have happened in many places and very different works.) And, curiously, one of the faithful who have, where to look you ... Of course, the action no longer takes place in Victorian London but in Istanbul in 1953 and the protagonists are not Jonathan Harker, his fiancée Mina the unhappy Miss Westenra ... Now called Azmi (a serious and responsible lawyer Gregory Peck an amazing air, hear), Guzina (his beautiful blonde wife, star of a revue to be called The Night Crazy Estambul'53 "I swear," and that seems to tally, a pin-up which drew poquico Vargas ... but a more buxom) and Sadan (an honest and discreet young Turkish and modern but formal, about to marry her boyfriend). Ah ... and if this were not enough, Van Helsing Turkish avatar is an old and gentle sage, white beard and round glasses, which responds to the name of Professor Nuri.

who is still there, unmoving, as it should be, is our dear old friend, Count Dracula.

But even he appears here with some original detail that sets it apart from the versions that are used to. First, I think it's the only time in which Dracula is a man shaved bald ... I do not say, no ... I mean bald, alopecia. With one of those bald of Lord formal life. Come on ... like my father, without going any further. And secondly, and more importantly, I swear it the first representation of vampire fangs. I read somewhere that honor belongs to a Mexican film, El Vampiro, Fernando Méndez. But that tape was made in 1957 and it, mes amis, is 1953. Four years earlier. So throw VOAC

account ... Interestingly, the fangs that the Count looks slightly different to the show then all the vampires in the world have been from Christopher Lee. If you look good, those of our vampire Turkish deviate slightly out ... To put it another way, if the fangs of Dracula Hammer (and all subsequent) resemble those of a wolf or a cat, the more reminiscent of Constantinople bloodsuckers to a boar ... The thing could be anything, but I like to think that has to do with Turkey's own iconographic tradition. Let me explain: I suppose many of you know or ever will have seen these wonders of art that are the Turkish and Persian miniatures (of which the first direct descendants) of the XV to XVII. Well ... Some of them, including courtly scenes, historical, or religious gallant (as is everything) are represented djins demons, evil spirits of their particular tradition (now very clearly remember one, in a scene that illustrates an edit Name of Ferdowsi's Shah. The hero kills him through his body with a sword while holding his head by the hair. The devil has completely white skin, not pink, as his human-killer and some dark spots on the arms and chest). If you look, you see that these monsters, more human appearance, have long faces and look beastly fangs. And those teeth always deviate sideways, like a wild boar.

as well ... as I say. I like to think that the peculiar arrangement of the canine Turkish Dracula has to do with it. That's how a Turk in 1953 imagined a vampire with fangs was so long ... At the end of the tradition is the tradition, and centuries very heavy ...

The film is made of a precarious means absolutely heartwarming. The scenarios of the castle are a disarming brevity, the crypts and corridors, instead of Gothic and dark scenes seem a storage cellar, 1930, the Castle of Dracula is a drawing on a panel (and not very good) in the a tiny window is turned on or off according to Azmi's lawyer lies or wake up ... I read somewhere that the effect of fog that occasionally is used was created by bringing together various members of the team and make them smoking at the side of the camera (and my faith that the story is credible ... That is the impression given, really). But despite everything, the movie maintains the dignity. The sequence in which Mr. Azmi (the Jonathan Harker Turkish) see Dracula crawling down the walls of the castle from the window of his room is delightfully effective. Conde himself, despite all the above (that of his baldness almost domestic), has a sinister, evil aristocratic and very successful. Of course, closer to that of Bela Lugosi and Universal productions that you printed the character a few years later, my adored Christopher Lee. But, mes amis, the film is 1953. It is normal that references the movie manages to be closer to those of the film version 1931, that what will make the Hammer seven years later ...

And in that sense, I have to insist otherwise. The film has absolutely nothing to Gothic. In fact, it also seems to Tod Browning film (and is perfectly defined as pre-hammeriana). As one of the most faithful adaptation of Stoker's novel, it takes leave to set the story today (the 1953) so that, first, denies one of the defining elements of the gothic genre. On the other hand, ask a Turkish film of that time playing with a characteristically Western aesthetic elements such as defining what might be asking Gothic too ... The depiction of Dracula's castle which I have identified as not so fortunate may be due to just that ... Cone, to the armor that adorn the rooms are not credible. Perhaps because they represent an aesthetic, a past that Turkey does not recognize as theirs, which is quite exotic and foreign. In that sense, there is more to take a look at the scenes set in the cemeteries. Gothicism Nothing sinister howling cemeteries and shadows. Istanbul's old cemeteries are Ottoman Muslims. And therefore in a sobriety bordering on aridity aesthetic (in the movie all comes down to a succession of thin slabs, almost tubular as pivots topped by hemispheres which are nothing but a kind of stylized turbans ... The Muslim cemeteries are generally very different from that.)

Cone ... not appear do not appear coffins. Dracula uses the boxes are just that, boxes. Four boards nailed. I remember that Stoker's novel the count moves to England in that way, and using wooden boxes, no more ... but the canonical imagery has accustomed us to the vampire in his coffin rests. Of course, in Muslim countries the dead are buried covered with a shroud, without putting in any case ... "Another cultural conditioning?.

case a Turkish movie, sure there who expect to find some exotic touch to the story. Well ... because I'm not saying that there is not. But, mes amis care, because I have found is certainly not the expectation. In fact, I emphasize exotic details are scarcely three: The first, already alluded to, that of the cemeteries (Ottomans, as I said ... very different from ours. And there's not much to say). The second obvious but no less curious, the total absence of Christian iconographic elements when fighting vampires. Come on ... that our Turkish friends not think at any time (which is perfectly logical, the other part) brandishing a cross in front of Dracula. But beware, do not expect flying sacred Koranic or talismans blessed with a hair of the beard of the prophet. In the movie, the only effective weapon against the bloodsucking turns out to be garlic. Mr Azmi acogotar the brave Count putting their noses in front of a string of garlic cloves until it away ... Things of cultural relativism (and, perhaps, of the legendary militant secular modern Turkey, I guess).

And the third, and very oblique (but for me the final) is the contrast, curious, from a rural Transylvania, backward, superstitious and the Istanbul metropolitan, cosmopolitan and modern, full of night-clubs, professional skilled, long coats and wide-brimmed hats. There is a scene (which is rarely seen, due to poor copy quality), which is the city for the first time. Following an overview (rather a snapshot) of Skyline estambulí see a sequence in which the camera, inside a car, crossing a street in the center (perhaps the Istiklal Avenue or any other) in the middle of the night traffic, the Dark cars, electric signs and neon lights of a modern capital, to end by focusing the light of the announcement of revue where she works as principal star Guzina Arsoy beautiful (the wife of lawyer Azmi, the Mine of the pin-movie ... Vargas up). This representation of Istanbul as a modern megalopolis, rational, Western and europeísima is not only a rare thing ... It is perfectly normal and I think quite adjusted to the reality (and now 1953). "Exotic" is the contrast with Transylvania superstitious, backward, rural and the other, as alien to the Turkish players such as ourselves. "Exotic" is "anatolización" of Transylvania (traditionally inhabited by Romanians, ethnic Hungarians and Germans, do not forget) in which women have their heads covered and men are played with a kind of fez-style Anatolian peasants. It is a curious thing, really ...

As for the copy which now hangs, is, as I said, a TVRip. The quality is uneven. There are moments when it looks pretty good and times when they just want to quarrel with the world. I think the problem rather than the ripping, the copy is projected on television. It seems (I'm sure) that is in very poor condition. There are a couple of times (few minutes ... almost anything) in the sound even of adjustment (for example, at the time the lawyer gets to cross Azmi Vucabina and is collected by the driver of Dracula). At other times (also a few minutes here and there) the image looks "burnt." C'mon ... the tape, at least Sinema Turk managed copy is crying out for restoration as God (or Allah) commands.

And on the subtitles I have to make a point (or several). The English have translated myself. And I must warn you that sometimes, "are a rare tantico." I do not know if the translator got it right or wrong ... but there are times when a speech "(" Barash met ekmesi gorglu bürurzin nisesi oyoraglan beretin bashki "or something like that) appears as" Well, okay "and other words that two result in a stunning tirade. A joke, come on ... On the other hand, there are interventions that are not translated, it is clear sentences that have been without reflecting. Although it is clear, however much they bother you, does not affect the understanding (perhaps those words were expressions so common that contributed nothing ...). Seriously, the movie reads "perfectly consistent with the whole world. Anyway ... I've done what I could, mes amis.

The movie's got off the mule. It is cut with File Splitter & Joiner and carries the embedded subs.

VOAC Enjoy it. And Allah (praise be) fill you with blessings.

There is no god but God and Muhammad is His prophet.

night monologues in my silences, answers that do not have words

Comment

"Prehistoric Journey" is another marvel designed by animation pioneer Karel Zeman (1910-1989) premiered in 1955 in Czechoslovakia under the title Cesta do praveku "and is another prime example of the great skills of Zeman for animation. It is the first of his productions which include actors who interact with the special effects and animation, and won international awards for the size of the Venice Film Festival and the Mannheim. The semi-documentary nature of the film was unusual for their time and ahead of its time, it will be many years later when he made great television productions depicting prehistoric life for education, not only to entertain (see "Walking with Dinosaurs").
The story is about four teenage friends catching a rowing boat and sail the "River of Time" that leads to a mysterious cave, passing through and out the other side where they discover a strange and primitive landscape. As you ply the river, they realize that increasingly travel back in time, so we meet in an orderly manner and prehistoric animals that inhabited the planet during those years (Or millennia). It is very well conceived story, as the animals depicted in "Basket praveku do," despite belonging to different times, never intermingle. That is, the different parts of the river represent different time periods. And each period has its own fauna. What increases the didactic film as important in providing accurate and serious. Not the typical prehistoric jumble we are so used, filled with scientific errors (mostly dating).
The plot is somewhat similar to that of the novel "plutonium" (1915), Soviet paleontologist Vladimir Obruchev, in which a team of explorers Russians entering the Earth's crust through a hole in the Arctic (a large depression on the surface of the Earth has existed for many millions of years due to the impact of a giant asteroid, in which prehistoric animals have entered) and follow a river that carries them through a sequence of geological primitive animal life associated with those eras. Some scenes of "do Pravěku Cart" were probably inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle novel, "The Lost World" (1912).
Considered one of the greatest children's films of its genre, "do Pravěku Cart" was a very intelligent combining various animation techniques with some magnificent scenery, good sound effects and a soundtrack memorable, which together give rise to this marvel. Filming took place in the Morava river near Bzenec, city in the Czech Republic. More specifically in the nature reserve call (in Czech) Osypané Břehy, plus studio-filmed scenes.
Zeman was heavily influenced by the art of the famous Czech artist Zdenek Burian (1905-1981), a Czech painter and illustrator known for his paleontological graphic reconstruction work, which ran from the 30s to the 70s. And many of the images of the film are inspired in these reconstructions that Burian had painted under the direction of Czech palaeontologist Josef Augusta (1903-1968).
Despite its small budget, compared to Western film, Cesta do Pravěku "was done very intelligently and, above all, sincerity, clarity and a very marked didactic spirit. Showing children prehistory, informing them of the paleontology, combining entertainment with learning. Teaching animals in the wild, with that semi-documentary tone. Something new for those years.
Anyway, you just have to see it and enjoy it. You will make a trip to the past. A Journey to Prehistory. " Recommendation "Plan 9".

Comment

For those who thought Roger Corman was the height of impudence and shamelessness, and that Ed Wood was the epitome of a bad performance, let me introduce you to the good of Al Adamson, a character who made a number of low budget films. Partner Sam Sherman in the Independent-International Pictures, a production capable of carrying out titles of genres and sub-genres like the western, the nudie, the biker, the blaxploitation and horror. Full movie full of sex, violence, vampires, bikers rapid consumption Movies ... ideal for drive-ins. Prominent among them all "Psycho A Go-Go", "Satan's Sadists," which concerns us "Horror of the Blood Monsters" "Dracula vs. Frankenstein" and "Five Bloody Graves." Authentic bizarre monsters with four hard shot that put the good of Ed Word in the category of the great directors of film history.
As well indicates the Ente friend in the comments, Adamson was a fitting end for any of his films. Retired from cinema, disappears mysteriously in 1995. After five weeks without any signs of life, law enforcement officers discovered his body killed in a hot tub full of concrete and roof tiles in your bathroom newly remodeled. The killer would be the contractor Fred Fulford, who after being arrested in Miami, Florida, was charged and convicted of murder and sentenced to twenty years imprisonment. That is where his legend and his film was revisited again, especially for lovers of the Z series, and film psychotronic / bizarre.
And to begin to know the great works of this prolific director / producer / writer / actor (performed an average of 4 films per year), I decided to post (although it is a folded TVRip, I hope soon to put the original version) a films in which Al shows the nerve (and resources) that had the time to create products faster, cheaper and, sorry to say, terrible. We speak of course of "Horror Of The Blood Monsters." A film that as often happens when a movie does not succeed, was removed from the cinema and after a reasonable time, he was again released with another title (to see if the public did not realize and itching). But this did not happen once or twice. The film was renamed a bunch of times until the number of thirteen. The full list after the original title, is as follows: "Monster Blood" / "Creatures of the Prehistoric Planet" / "Creatures of the Red Planet" / "Flesh Creatures of the Red Planet" / "The Flesh Creatures / "Horror Creatures of the Lost Planet" / "Horror Creatures of the Prehistoric Planet "/" Horror Creatures of the Red Planet "/" Space Mission of the Lost Planet "/" Space Mission of the Prehistoric Planet "/ 2Space Mission to the Lost Planet" / "Vampire Men of the Lost Planet."
For "Horror Of The Blood Monsters" is an artistic creation that stems from the collage. Since it is formed from mixing several films. Commonplace in the Z series of the 60/70. It bought the rights to some movies or fragments of them and included the original footage (all remember "Planet of Storms", the Soviet original, "Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women "and" Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet ", the friend Corman. The three nearly equal). But in the case of Adamson's film the thing comes to the absolute limits, as "Horror Of The Blood Monsters" consists of footage shot by my friend Al, a filipino film cavemen and monsters called "Tagani, 1960, footage an American science fiction film that was never to be released, shot in 1966, scenes from "The Unknown Island" (Jack Bemharn, 1948), "Wizard of Mars" (1965) and the 1940 film "One Million years "theme also prehistoric. So that we have a hodgepodge of scenes with different qualities, some in black and other color, different pictures ... And that was a problem because the film was announced as it was filmed in color. To fix this, Adamson pulled off the innovative new Spectrum-X system. A scam that was to color the Philippine film footage and the scenes of "The Lost World" and "For a Million Years", a method that had been using since the 30's, but with the addition that not turned a single color, as the developing world where most of the film is contaminated by the "Radiation Spectrum ", which makes the atmosphere acquires sometimes tinged with red, sometimes blue, yellow, green ... Thus all secretly resolved to put the images in black and white, yes, tacking to those colors. And problem solved. Take that, shamelessness.
If we add that we need to combine scenes from different films in the same plot, the result becomes insane plot. Psychotronic a real puzzle that borders on surrealism. With a priceless dialogue ranging from drowsiness to heartfelt laughter. In general, a script worthy of a tenant of any psychiatric disorder. Something really strong and worth seeing.
In short, and not gut anything about this "wonder of worship" only add that we are dealing with a visual monstrosity full of errors (both plot and visual), with terrible performances, some really bad special effects, a photograph ... Well, ... and a plot that neither head nor tail. Boring at times, hilarious at other times, we must see it with an open mind with good drinks and a few friends to encourage the show. Then, a few plastic vampire teeth and the street partying, Al-style "short-sticks" Adamson.

PD: A men out bats that are fine.

After "Jaws" (1975) wake up the bottle of essences (animals, of course) Examples of films horror / science fiction featuring monstrous creatures of Mother Nature is multiplied to the pure excess. Seizing the moment, "Prophecy damn," directed by John Frankenheimer that had seen better days (and the worst was known) had at least the gesture of offering a more elaborate argument of organic red and clear reporting on the one hand and on the other, with a vein near closer to film the 50 monsters that so many unfortunate consequences and plagiarism Spielberg's masterpiece (which were also able to do wit Joe Dante on "Piranha" (1978) and Lewis Teague and John Sayles in "The beast beneath the asphalt" (1980).
Located in the deep woods of Maine (although on that Stephen King would have something to say), the film also plays with the disturbing presence of the Indians of a reservation that will be the first affected and the first to predict the horror to come. A horror that is a giant mutant plantigrade, product toxic waste, which soon becomes infatuated with the characters relentlessly pursuing them. Indeed, the emergence of the Indians as an important part of the plot is an addition that adds credibility and strength to act. On the one hand, the superstitions of the Indians who consider the facts as supernatural situations. On the other hand, the presence of Dr. Robert Verne (Robert Foxworth) charged with unraveling the mystery, after a scientific analysis (very credible and very well documented and explained). An encounter between tradition and science, bad enough stops resulting ancestral beliefs to the harshness of the reality of environmental attack. At times
ridiculous, at times actually achieved, with special effects ranging from stupidity to perfection in some amazing footage, "Damn Prophecy" remains positive out among the rest of the fantasy film (animal) of the time and, furthermore, one of the "movies" junk "Stephen King's own favorite, despite completely distort the physical geography of Maine.
In conclusion, despite being shot with sufficient resources (12 million), "Cursed Prophecy" is clearly a film of series B in any rule, but not go down in history as one of the greats of the genre, is reveals very carefully and entertaining.
