SERI2009 Spanish Seminar Information Retrieval

One of the most interesting research areas of documentation and not always sufficiently well covered is Information Retrieval and Information Retrieval, responsible for obtaining effective or operationally relevant information in vast collections of documents. Being so important documentary work and the importance of exercise are becoming retrieval systems both in evolution and reinvention as the consequences and highlighting economic and scientific, will be held shortly by the first English workshop specializing in information retrieval, also called SERI2009 in which the research group GRIWEB , which I have the honor to be part, has made a great effort to achieve them.

The seminar will be held on April 3, 2009 in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Science Documentation of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, being an event open to anyone interested information professionals in the affairs of IR, recovery and future models of recovery.

The attractions of the day there are many and include the presence and presentation of two experts from relevant global capital in information retrieval. Kalervo Jarvelin are and Stephen Robertson noted for improving the model evaluate the results of information retrieval and the creation of probabilistic model that many search engines used today.

But the journey will not end without one of its most important contributions. Specifically, we held a round table which will raise and discuss the creation of what could be the first English Association of Information Retrieval by bringing together researchers in all IR professionals across the country for scientific collaboration, fantastic together of ideas, developments and possible future coordination of research efforts aimed at recovery techniques, tests and experiments.

Updated March 31, 2009.

Given the proximity of the seminar to be held on April 3, this blog offers the collaboration of information professionals to their opinion regarding the possible or hypothetical creation of a English Society of Information Retrieval. What activities and services can or should offer a Society of this category and in what ways can work with archivists, librarians and archivists. What ideas would propose for its development, what he is missing, what could be improved. All these questions have their place in the next survey, whose results will try to expose them during the round table seminar so that the voice of professional information and documentation can be heard. Also these results will also be exposed so that they can be discussed. Thanks in advance for the cooperation of all readers.

Remodeling Resource on the documentary Bold

The Bold Documentalist just suffered a major reform in the area of \u200b\u200binformation resources and references. For months, the blog had no links with the rest of the library community and documentary filmmaker, best known blogosphere, devido obvious problems of space, presentation, visualization, organization and more importantly, lack of time to perform proper maintenance .

This blog has always been known to contain the most important references on blogs archives, library and information science, including in its final stages, sections that could well be considered miscellaneus of what could be and was not, such as libraries, institutions, photographic resources, which, although they became accessories were necessary to ensure that information sources have perished in their attempt before consolidation. But any attempt to improve things, each fall and revival of the blog has been leading to technical maturity and practice that has finally been resolved with a new proposal which I hope will be short, to file once and for all references, sources and resources web. Through a filtering system and innovative automation of information has been preparing a directory of resources emerging advanced, or what is the same as most technologists say 2.0. Since the resources, you can access a description of this resource, its title, links, syndication channel if you have and using google web referencing fully automatically. Soon will introduce improvements in the original design that will obtain the author or statement of responsibility and important data for the study cybermetric of networked information sources.

The available resources have focused at an early stage sources of income such as digital libraries, blogs, documentaries, digital archives, research communities and educational projects framed in documentation. All resources are accessible from the left menu of this blog or if you prefer from this list that under these lines are presented:
consulting resources can be complex given the number and extent of some descriptions, so there is a window open in new browser or tab that allows easy reading and analysis of content. Either way, The Bold Documentalist, remain committed to improve and expand this work to organize the most important sources of documentation. To do this all helps and suggestions for improvement are taken into account. Without a doubt I hope that these developments are a joy for all readers and professionals who use this blog, that will undoubtedly be the main beneficiaries of this deployment.
